Getting an error when trying to complete. 1040/1040SR Wks: Line 11 is too large. 0 is 'too large' because line 10 is negative. Where do I opt out of this deferment?

You can defer payment up to the amount on line 10 until 12/31/2021 or12/31/2022 by reporting the amount on line 10 above (or a smaller amount)on Schedule 3 line 12e.

Just delete the zero in the error message and also on the form.  This eliminated the error for me.

I think I went into Forms mode and unclicked a box to remove a box which gave you the opportunity to defer payroll taxes, I believe.
There is a section under "2020 Deductions & Credits" which reads:
"Self-employment tax deferral"
See attached. I believe if you answer "no" the error may disappear.Screenshot Defer SE taxes questiom.jpg

Thanks for your response! I remember seeing that question when filling out everything initially, and specifically selecting no to begin with.
I went back now and it's no longer even an option, just "You no longer qualify for the self-employment tax deferral" (presumably because now it's a negative number after filling everything else now).

But when I go to e-file it still complains about this form.
Unfortunately, based on the help documentation, forms mode is not available in TurboTax Online, so I'm not sure how else to remove this form that does not apply to me?

You may need to remove self-employment tax deferral through the step-by-step process in TurboTax Online.

In TurboTax Online Self-Employed, I was able to enter a self-employment tax deferral and pass Review.  Then I was able to remove self-employment tax deferral and pass Review.

Follow these steps.

  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  • Across the top of the screen, click on Deductions  & credits.
  • Under Your tax breaks, scroll down to Self-employment tax deferral.
  • Click on Edit/Add to the right of Self-employment tax deferral.
  • At the screen Do you want more time to pay your self-employment tax?, click Yes.
  • At the screen Let's start by getting your eligible income, I have left the dollar amount that was previously entered, others change this amount to $0.
  • Click on Continue.
  • At the screen Tell us how much you'd like to defer, change the dollar amount to $0.
  • Click Continue.
  • Click through Federal Review to make sure than the Review issue has been removed.
  • At the screen Some of your self-employment taxes may be eligible, click Skip.

Hello @JamesG1,

Thanks for trying to help! Unfortunately I've gone back to the self-employment tax deferral several times now.

If I say YES, it says "It looks like you're not eligible for this deferral" and does not let me make any changes to anything.

If I say NO (which I did initially, since I had already payed quarterly and did not need to defer anything), it still gives me the error during the review process when I try to e-file. :(

...wow.
Why on earth does fixing it in the prompt not fix it in the form too?
Thank you so much. 😂
