Form 1116 Schedule B is not a/v this year for e-filing (for foreign tax credit carryover to next year)

Don't settle for a paper return and going the deduction route. I filed 3/13/2022 and Sch B now appears to be intact in TT for e-filing. I have not ventured into carryback or carryforward waters yet but plan to hoping that TT will make the usage adjustments accordingly. If someone reading this knows otherwise that it still has to be done manually please set me straight as that method is likely well beyond my pay grade.

I just opened Turbo Tax and after inputting my Foreign Tax info, I was not given the message that I would have to file by mail (that I was given last week).  Am going to wait to file to make sure I have entered everything correctly, but it looks like we can e-file now.  Fingers crossed!!

Is anyone else getting "Your Transmission Didn't Go Through" "TurboTax was unable to send your return to the Intuit Electronic Filing Center, for the following reason: cancelled"

This is on Mac Download. Trying to e-file Federal.  All updated. Also uninstalled and reinstalled the app.

My return includes Form 1116 Schedule B.

I thought I was passed all this when I manually put the pdf in the proper folder and TT accepted my e-file. But it has now been more than 48 hours and the return has not been accepted by the IRS or by the state of CT. 

Did any of you who used the work around get the file accepted?

Hi.  Form 116 schedule B has been issued a couple of days ago in the most recent Turbo tax update.

Just accept the update once you open the software and then return to your file. It will automatically populate form 116 schedule B with your carry over tax credit. I am a Canadian citizen living in the US on a green card  with a Canadian pension income. I was able to efile my tax, once form 1116 schedule B was included in the latest software update.

I also had a Foreign Tax Credit (a small one though) but I was able to file my returns (State and Federal) online today. Yes, I saw this note on the availability of Form 1116 but there was no flags or errors on the final review. I checked Schedule 3 (line 1) and there it was the full amount but there was a catch. It said "File Form 1116 if Required". On the final return, I only found Form 1116 Wks but couldn't find Form 1116 itself. The 1116 WKS will show you the amount carried over to 2022. I am not sure how helpful this is.

@turquoise19 I can try to help. I am not sure about what you tried to enter but remember that there is a limit to your FTC for *this year* (depends on your regular income, foreign income and tax liability, among other things). The FTC for *this year* will be in Form 116 and the carryover number will be in Form 1116 Sch B. Perhaps there is a limit to how much you can carry over as well (I am not sure). I was able to e-file my return yesterday and have it be accepted by IRS. I can confirm that I had Form 1116 and Form 1116 Sch B. I had a carryover for next year (reported in Sch B). I did *not* have a carryover from any of the previous years. I can confirm that I used the "simplified method" for AMT in the context of FTC.  If you want further help, pls let me know (I am NOT an expert).

If your return has been rejected regarding Form 1116B, please know that the issue is being resolved in a product release scheduled for March 18, 2022. Your tax return now includes updated information to carryover of foreign taxes. On or after March 18 you'll need to sign into TurboTax, complete a quick review (steps below), and resubmit your return. Please note this is just for your federal 1040 tax return. To review and re-submit your return, follow these are the steps if you're using a CD or downloaded version of TurboTax:

1. Update TurboTax (visit our Support Site if you need help updating).
2. Please review your answers under the topic of Foreign Taxes in the Deduction & Credits Section under Estimates and Other Taxes Paid. Make any corrections if prompted.
3.  E-file your return (you won't be charged any additional fees).

Note: The calculation change may affect your refund.

It is 9/12/2022 and I tried to file my amended return using efile, but TT gives me message that it cannot locate Form 1116 Schedule B and to go back and attach and then reattempt the efile.  The form is there but I have no idea how to attach.
