filing taxes

I filed my own taxes using TurboTax deluxe. That went fine . No questions about that. But now my grandson wants my help filing his taxes, which are completely separate from mine. Can i use the very same TurboTax software that I already purchased to fine his return?

If you have the TurboTax Desktop software that you downloaded and installed on your computer, yes, you can use the same software for your grandson's tax return. Just start a new tax return for him. If you are using TurboTax Online you have to create a new separate account for your grandson, and pay separately. A TurboTax Online account can be used for only one tax return.

We cannot see what software you have.   If you have the desktop download then yes----you can use your desktop software to prepare and e-file up to five federal returns and their associated state returns.   

If you are using online TurboTax---that is a different story:

When you use online TurboTax software you get one return per fee.

Each return needs its own account and user ID.   If you use the same account and user ID for a second return, the second one overwrites the first return and it is lost forever.

With the desktop software, each return is a separate document, like having more than one spreadsheet or word processing document on your hard drive.  The tax return files are usually somewhere in your Documents folder and will be named something like "Joe Smith 2025.tax2025".
