This is happening again as of Jan 31, 2026.
FAILED_VALIDATION: Error Code 54
This version of TurboTax is no longer current. You must ... blah blah Check for Updates and then you can e-file.
Can not
If you can’t update your Windows program try doing a Manually update. Don't know if it's only for personal programs or for Business too.

I just got the same error in TT Business. I downloaded and installed the manual patch and got the same error again.
Same problem in TTax Business 2025: Failed Validation Error 54.
- Checked for updates, none needed.
- Restarted computer, same error.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled TTax, same error.
Ridiculous that this same problem is happening this year. Intuit / TTax could at least tell us what's going on, and whether we need to wait for an update. Some of us would like to finish our taxes asap instead of waiting for the last minute.
Still does not work,
checked for updates and says software current.
Still get "Failed validation code 54"
efile wont work
Now working with Business 2025 and have same problem as others had in 2024. Found post saying need to download an update w.bizrel superpatch (etc.) did it but didn't fix.
I have been TurboTax user for many years but they have become next to impossible to receive any customer service. Now they have known program issues but don't tell anybody and AI won't let you reach an agent.
Hi Johnp317. I use TT Deluxe and had the same problem a couple of times the past few years, the exact same problem. What I did was as follows: I saved my return and then deleted the entire program. I then reinstalled a fresh copy from the vendor where I bought it from. I reinstalled and it worked perfect. I used to download or install the program as soon as it was available, sometimes at the end of the year or at the very beginning of the new year. What I found was, a lot of the early releases of TT have this problem so I waited until I got all of the needed info for filing and downloaded/installed TT at that time. No problems since. I don't know if this works with other versions of TT, Business, Premier, etc., but it did work with Deluxe. What ever program your using, its worth a try. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the suggestion. I did try that and no go. I also tried installing on a different computer.
Intuit is currently looking into it, so I'm hoping it's fixed soon.
