ETrade 1099-B import issue resolved yet submission of return still being stopped

The negative value issue with 1099-B ETrade imports has been resolved however the software is still blocking the file once submitted. I also tried the summary method which basically means there is no 1099-B attached and the file was still blocked. So I'm guessing that any 1099-B with the name Etrade attached is being stopped. Can you check to see why a summarized 1099-B would be stopped. It's just one line.

I believe TurboTax has code in their app that is blocking any 1099-B that has the name Etrade attached. It's clearly not an import problem anymore. And since it's also blocking a summary line with no 1099-B attached narrows down the possibilities to just one …. TurbTax code. They probably installed it once the initial import problem was discovered to prevent customers from sending bad returns but still haven't removed it.

My turbo tax premier can't even connect to etrade, did anyone face this issue ?

1099-B negative

A Form 1099-B is issued to report the proceeds from your stocks and bonds transactions.  The transactions will generate either a long term or short term capital gain or loss depends on how long the stocks are being held.  The amount will be reported on line 7 of your Form 1040 along with a Schedule D and Form 8949.

I'm also having trouble signing into etrade to import my tax documents. Keep getting an error stating "This import was unsuccessful" in the TurboTax 2020 Premier software. Also tried importing the documents using the browser version of Turbotax and that also failed.  Called Etrade and they said the issue is not on their end and to contact TuroTax. Is everyone else having this issue?

facing same issue, talked to support for an hour other day, after an hour she connected me to her supervisor who quickly said they are working on issue(not sure how much time they will take) and they closed my ticket  !!

There are three different ways you can fix your negative proceeds values.:

1. Complete your tax return and mail it in as-is. Although the IRS will not allow e-filing at the moment, they will accept your return via mail.
2. Wait for the issue to be resolved (late March) and e-file your return. We have been partnering with the IRS on this issue and expect them to update their rules by then.
3. Modify each sale on your 1099-Bs with a negative proceeds value, and refile now.
