Well, curioser and cuiouser as they say. I didn’t uncheck the “bought insurance with business income” box, and I did print the PDF to review before efiling—that’s how I discovered the incorrect 7206 in the first place. But I’m a bit skeptical that the PDF represents exactly what was efiled—after all, it includes all kinds of stuff (even in the “forms only” option)—for instance, the 2024 estimated tax vouchers—that are clearly not part of the actual return. It’s all academic at this point obviously, the return has been filed. But it would be good to know exactly what happened.
When you print the pdf filing there are several options. The one that says Filing Record (or something to that I effect) is what is filed to the IRS without all the worksheets. Having said that it is not the pdf document that is filed but an xml representaton of it. The error that the IRS is flagging could be due to either a numerical mismatch with other forms, or it could simply be a formating error in the electronic xml file. So if the IRS accepted the filing you can be pretty the printed pdfs are representative of what the IRS received.
I did some research on the code number for the error and in non IRS situations pdf data transfers, the code means a formating error (eg. a missing or out of spec data field etc). Whatever the cause the form with the error gets rejected and TT seems unable or uninterested in fixing it before the filing deadline. So a few like us have managed to find a work around, but for the rest they will have to file a paper copy and even that may not be accurate and could be quite possibly be rejected as well or worse still audited by the IRS. It is big sh.. show and really casts a stain on TT's reputation.
The development team has given us an update with regard to customers who are receiving the Reject Code R0000-058-01 when trying to electronically file thei return. The resolution to this situation is taking longer than expected and it may not be resolved before the tax filing deadline.
For reference, this information is from the IRS Instructions for Form 7206:Generally, you can use the worksheet in the Form 1040 instructions to figure your deduction. However, if any of the following apply, you must use Form 7206.
In order to proceed and get your return filed in a timely manner, please follow this advice:
1 - If you are required to include Form 7206 as a part of your tax return based on the information above, then you need to print and mail your return. Electronic filing will not be an option if the reject code persists.
2 - If you are not required to include Form 7206 as part of your tax return, then you can attempt to delete Form 7206 and try electronically filing your return once again. If the form cannot be deleted or you still get the reject code, then you need to print and mail your return.

Workaround that worked for me —-reply to njginn: thanks for your post about the GHOST 7206 forms. I have to file both a schedule C and schedule F. I had the exact same scenario and did not see any 7206 form anywhere on the left side of the screen except one under my Sch C. However, when I searched for form 7206 with the open form icon, it showed 4 possible locations for the form 7206 including a schedule F (which I have to file) and two schedule K1’s. Don’t assume they are empty. The one under my Sch F was not. Delete it. I then clicked on each of them and made sure they were all deleted except the one with my Sch C which I kept. I saved my return, reopened it, and re-filed (5th time also) and it was finally accepted both for federal and state. This workaround worked for me and hopefully it will help someone else as well.
At least 2 members on the TurboTax forum have documented the ghost 7206 forms which are preventing e-filing and how to resolve it. Can someone who is a bogleheads member share the solution on the following thread (I'm not a member and don't want to join just for this): https://www.bogleheads.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=428275
I'm sure numerous people will appreciate this! I know I was grateful to Deborahwrites1's solution on a different thread (https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/taxes/discussion/re-is-anyone-else-getting-the-code-r0000-058-01-r...) which enabled my e-file to be accepted.
I tried a couple times and found out this is the correct solution for me. especially step 1 and step 2. Here is a bit details of what I did. Hope it helps someone.
problem: only k-1 from s corp, no schedule c, having health market health premiums. turbotax online generates a bad form 7206, line 1 is empty.
To solve: Go to Deductions & Credits -> Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A) -> Edit -> Continue. The problem is the pesky "I'm self-employed and bought a Marketplace plan" box. uncheck that box.
Then go to Wages & Income -> schedule k1 -> edit ->S corporations (update) -> edit -> continue until you see "Other Situations" , check "I personally paid health insurance and/or long-term care insurance premiums for myself and my family and this S corporation paid me wages", -> Health Insurance Premiums You Paid Personally, enter the correct amount (amount you paid plus any credit you might need to pay back, basically the same number when you associate marketplance 1095-A with s-corp).
This will generate a correct form 7206
I"m having the same problem, I'm glad you posted this. I called TT last night with no help.
I had both a Sched C 7206 and a Sched F 7206. At one point I decided to move my healthcare to the Sched F and removed it from Sched C, however the Sched C 7206 that had been generated and now was zeroes was still there. After two rejection rounds I followed this advice for removing the Sched C 7206 and resubmitted. Just got back an acceptance email. Thank you!!!!
This is exactly my issue. Multiple 7206's (5 in total) for my MLP K1's and business. I deleted all the K1 7206's. just left the relevant one for my business and my return was just accepted this time. Thanks so much. TT need a SW fix that only allows one 7206 to be attached and e-filed.
