If your return is rejected because of a mistyped date, why do you have to pay another $60 to e-file again within 24 hours?

Where are you seeing this charge? There is no charge to e-file the same tax return again after the error has been corrected.
As I was typing my date of birth I typed a 2 instead of a 1. It was just the date that was incorrect. I made the correction and it went to re-file. The federal did not charge me because it was free to begin with as part of the Deluxe version. However, the state form was also rejected because the federal one was rejected. I didn't have to correct anything on the state but had to pay the $19.99 and $39.99 again to re-file the state return.
