I have just filed jointly with my wife for the first time in 2019. I owe money for 17 and 18. But for the 2019 tax return we will be getting money back and neither of us owe any money. Do I still have to file an 879?
Yes - If you still owe money to the IRS and you want to protect your wife's part of any refund she needs to file a Form 8379 - Injured Spouse Allocation.
