I need to file form 8911 for tax year 2023, and TT claims that Form 8911 will be available Feb 21. Can I get confirmation for that?
I assume that there is an URL showing the date forms will be available in TT 2023?

Here is an article you can reference that will tell you particular forms availability.
Can you please check again?
That article points to the page: https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability?albRedirect=true&product...
And that page says that Form 8911 is available right now. But my TT 2023 will not allow me to efile right now due to an expected update of Form 8911 on Feb 21,
I am having the same problem. Just received a new update when launching the Windows program today. When I run a smartcheck it flags form 8911. Checking the status on the forms show both GREEN for ready to print and ready to e-file but this is false.
This issue needs to be escalated. I find it so hard to contact support as a paying customer! I know this is not official support. How do we get this expedited and fixed? At least fix the status on the tax form status checker for fix this issue.
IRS revised the form in January 2024. It's been at least half a month (if not more) since and TurboTax can't get it together?
Thanks for your reply. It does not feel so hopeless knowing that someone else is having the same problem that I am having.
Sadly, I studied the new instructions for Form 8911 for tax year 2023, and it appears the tax credit is being targeted to only certain census tracts, and sadly, it appears the location where I installed my EV charger is NOT in one of the targeted tracts. Yuck! Of course, I am not an attorney or a CPA so, I am not 100% certain of this.
Same problem. My whole return is done. Click submit. It redirects me to "Form 8911: Total cost The IRS made updates to Form 8911 Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit. TurboTax is planning to make updates around this by 02/21/2024. Please check back then to ensure you are eligible to receive this credit." I hit continue and it won't let me file. It's an endless loop. Other posts say it's been 7 days out for many days now.... Today is 02/14 so it says 02/21. When will we be able to submit our returns?
I have the exact same predicament - but, mine appears to be a little worse. It sounds like the IRS is only giving the tax credit to installations in rural parts of the USA. I live in the suburbs, and so, I think that I need to strip Form 8911 from my return. But, I am going to consult with a CPA on this to be sure. It sure would be nice if TT's interview included logic to identify whether the location of the installation was in a rural part of the USA, and if not, it could just eliminate the form.
I also did see the IRS requires being in a eligible census tract:
https://www.anl.gov/esia/refueling-infrastructure-tax-credit-faq
I verified my address (where the charger is installed) is in an eligible tract:

The IRS updated rules on January 19, 2024. Intuit has had almost a month to update this form!

Q4. How do I know if my qualified alternative fuel vehicle refueling property is installed in a location that qualifies for the tax credit? (added January 19, 2024)
A4. To be eligible for the credit, qualified alternative fuel vehicle refueling property must be placed in service in one of two types of population census tracts (or both, if the population census tract qualifies under both categories). The categories are:
1. Low-income community census tracts: Census tracts as described in the "low-income community" definition of the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) (Internal Revenue Code section 45D).
2. Non-urban census tracts: Census tracts defined as "non-urban" according to Treasury/IRS guidance.
I'm in the same boat with Form 8911waiting for TT to update a form that the feds updated last month. I just finished dealing and waiting for TT to update Form 7206 which took way too long. Now this.
Same issue here, but mine says TT will have the update by 2/22/24. This happened after I updated TT on 2/15. So it sounds like with each update, they are extending the date for when the form will be available. It also sounds like they will take the credit away from those who currently have it listed in their credits/deductions. This is so ridiculous!
It appears Intuit TT played fast and loose with 8936 last year and the year before, moving the date several times.

Many of us want to file early to prevent identity thieves from filing before us. Intuit TT is not doing us any favors and appears to be supporting the wrong team. We may just file and then amend later. We cannot be waiting while Intuit drags their feet with C players.
I just received the attached email:
When I try to file, it says this form is still missing. I’ve rebooted the program twice and still cannot file. How do I fix this? I’ve waited all this time and still cannot file. Jeesh!!! What a loser company.

I am also having this issue. I received an email today that form 8911 was avaialble, but despite several updates it says the form is still not available in my desktop version of the software. I am in an eligible area.
The "Tax form availability" page says that Form 8911 is available and ready to print or e-file for TurboTax Windows,
However, TurboTax Deluxe Windows is updated but still throws an error whenever I attempt to file.
Curiously, the Form 8911 apparently won't even be included in my return because I don't qualify (?) but still can't progress and file due to this error.
The IRS made updates to Form 8911 Alternative Fuel Vehicle Refueling Property Credit. TurboTax is planning to make additional updates around this by February 21, 2024. Please check back then to ensure you are eligible to receive this credit.
