I'm a Chase Private Client with a J.P. Morgan advisor, running TT Premier 2021 on my Mac. Slightly different version of the problems others are experiencing. I went straight to the "Chase" selection to download all my 1099s and it WORKED the first time.... sort of. I got all my bank 1099-INTs, my retirement fund 1099-Rs, and I got all the -DIV, -INT, -B -- but only for five out of seven of my brokerage accounts.
Then I tried again, but using my wife's Chase login (most accounts are shared). Now, a sixth brokerage account came through. Still missing one.
In all cases, the Chase website embedded within TT shows a list of the accounts it will be authorized to share data for... and in all instances, all accounts are included. It's just when I go back into TT for the actual import that the forms for that one account don't actually come in. Weird.
Based on this thread I'll try again with the J.P. Morgan Securities method if I can get those links to work that folks have struggled with on the Mac version.
The "J.P Morgan Securities" path, along with the workaround for the missing "get your code" link, appears to have worked for me. Still very strange that the "Chase Bank" path almost worked fully. I almost wish that had failed completely so I would have thought to take another route, rather than to keep trying to pull the one missing account.
I can confirm this link works. Thanks for posting the link
Turbotax should really fix this problem. Last year we had the exact same problem and I used a link posted by somebody. This year the link still existed. Shame for you, TT
agree, the mac version has no hyperlink to get a identification code
Really disappointed this is still an issue --- it's been over a week since I contacted TurboTax about this. I called about it today and they're saying they're "working" on it, with no idea when it might be fixed.
Really ridiculous -- TT does not allow for people using a Mac computer?? I think next year Mac users are going to have to find a different tax software.
OMG-- I FINALLY got my info downloaded. I went in thru "Chase" and had to sign in. After filling in the code, I then had to fill in info on bunch of screens -- allowing Turbo to access my accounts - I do not remember having to do this before. It included my CC accounts and my retirement accounts. I did not allow Turbo access to those (since there is no reason for them to have access to them) -- but that screen made me feel totally uncomfortable. I have been doing this for years -- all I have ever had to do (on any accounts) was to just type in User ID and PW, and in the case of Chase, a code. And at that point it always showed what accounts had info to download -- did not ask me to allow TT to have access to ALL my accounts. Very strange.
Hope this makes sense.
I am just glad I was finally able to do the download.
THANKS TO ALL IN THE COMMUNITY FOR YOUR HELP!!
TurboTax is unable to import. Why?
Are you using a Mac computer by any chance? It took me FOREVER but I was finally able to import yesterday using Chase Bank. I had to sign into Turbo Tax (or set up an account if you have not done that already)-- then from there, got my code, and downloaded the files I needed. So many other people (working on Windows) were able to import using JP Morgan Securities. I think many many people may re-think using TT next year, after this fiasco. We are supposed to import using Chase Investments - but does not show this year for some reason.
It seems, this year Turbotax has product full of bugs (seems infected by Covid-TY21 !!!!!)
I spoke to their customer service, they don't know what they are talking about it. I spent all most 3 hours with 3 different reps. None of them know this import.
I tried to import form E*Trade --> It says "This import is unsuccessful", though I have tax documents in my etrade account. When I approached turbotax reps they are saying that we need to talk to E*Trade ( Incase of e*trade import) . I raised ticket with turbotax ( case#[phone number removed]). Hope they fix it
similarly, with Chase 1099 imports, I could not find "Chase Investments" option in Turbotax.
I use Home & Business edition of 2021 on widows laptop. Last few years both imports are working fine.
This year it seems got infected by Covid!!!!!
HI--
If you read a lot of the posts on this site you will see that JP Morgan Securities seems to be working for people with Windows. I have Mac and it probably took me 2 weeks (?) before I was FINALLY able to import by using Chase Bank (had to sign in to Turbo Tax, and then sign into Chase before getting the code). DEFINITELY different than other years when I just clicked on Chase Investments and got the code.
So anyway- try JP Morgan Securities, and see if you find the link for the code (should be in blue towards the bottom of the page). Since you are working in Windows you might luck out. If no-good- try Chase Bank. I have a feeling Chase Investments is not going to appear this year.
Unfortunately can't help you with ETrade.
For Cetera Investment Services
I get a message "1099 forms not yet available for tax year"
Same message since 3/1. I know they have the paper version done, but who wants to manually enter that??
I had a similar problem trying to import J P Morgan Securities. Had to go through Chase. To get there I was directed to INTUIT
and verify my Intuit account who then transferred to CHASE and from there was able to import tax information. I was in TurboTax while this was taking place.
I contacted Chase Private Client support and they said, "Contact Turbo Tax support". Good luck with that!
Just so strange. So many people were able to download thru JPMorgan Securities and other thru Chase Bank. I tried for weeks. I was FINALLY able to download thru Chase Bank (but was not thrilled with how it asked what accounts I wanted to download -- (showed all my accounts, including my credit card accounts as well as my IRA accounts??)-- in the past it just showed the accounts that were supposed to be downloaded. Anyway, I received a corrected statement, and at that point, could no longer download.Just incredible that in the past, there were no problems. Seems like an easy fix to just add on Chase Investments, as in the past. Why, all of a sudden, for 2021 taxes, it turns into a major problem??
I think many people who have Chase accounts are going to try a different tax software next year.
