Can't find "Save your 2024 return to your computer" in tools center in turbotax online.

I had started the return in turbotax online premier version and have it almost completed. But I wanted to continue it in turbotax desktop for mac. I was trying to export the 2024 .tax file but I can no longer see the option to "Save your 2024 return to your computer" in the Tax Tools> Tools> Tools Center pop-up. I see Options to transfer last years returns to online but no option to transfer the current work to computer to be imported in the newly installed TT for  Mac.

You must be signed onto your 2024 online account and accessing the 2024 online tax return by clicking on the Review/Edit button for any of the program sections, such as Personal , Info, Wages & Income, Deductions & Credits, etc.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen.

Click on Tools

Click on Save your 2024 return to your computer

       Done exactly that! As I mentioned in my original post, I can get to the tools center. But the save your 2024 return to the computer option is not there.

No. Exactly that option is missing for me. I had done that successfully last year. Now I see all the other options in the screenshot except that one. 😣 that’s when I posted the query last night. Not sure if it was temporary issue. Had checked on multiple browsers to be sure. Was the same. Will check again.

@nnandrek Suggest that you contact TurboTax support for this issue since I have the option and you do not have the option and we are both using the 2024 TurboTax online editions.

No I did not. Since I had my returns ready in TT online and there was a promo to file it for $0 through app by Feb28 I filed it that way. Didn’t want to go through the hassle of support since i had a quick and easy way out this time.

What version of TurboTax online are you using? When testing in TurboTax Premium, I do have the option to save my 2024 return to my computer.

 Select Tax Tools

• You may have to minimize both the Federal and State options by clicking the Down Arrows on the Sidebar.
• You will then clearly see Tax Tools
• Click the arrow to up to see additional options

1. Once you can work on Tax Tools
2. On the drop-down select Tools
3. There will be 3 or 4 green boxes
4. There is a list below the boxes
5. Select Save your 2024 return to your computer

hi @JohnB5677   If you see my reply with screenshot initially in the post, you will see that I can go to the tools ( step 4 in your steps) but don’t see the save to computer option listed in there ( number 5 in your steps is not seen)

If you install the Desktop program there is a new button to CONTINUE from Online.  So you don’t need to download the .tax2024 file from Online.
