@gnguyen46   It is not clear what you are trying to do.   If your Mac is old, it cannot support the current desktop software--it will not meet the system requirements.  And there are no updates or support available for the software for tax years earlier than 2019.    Please explain what you are trying to do.

Yes.

Can I install TurboTax CD on both PC and Mac for only one license fee?

Same topic, new twist...

With tax year 2024 TT is moving to download only, no CD.  For years I've used the CD to install TT on both Windows and Mac (I use each for different purposes), and the single license key that came with the CD would enable the software on both systems.  In some years I did try the download and/or upgraded the software.  I've always had to contact tech support in order to get working software for both systems (without having to buy it again).

Has Intuit fixed this?  If I buy the TT download for tax year 2024, will I get a single license key that works on both systems like I used to get with the CD?  I did notice that this year I can download the full software for each system and it's just waiting for an activation key.

Thank you.

If you were using the CD on computers with disc drives, it was no problem because the CD's were formatted for PC or Mac.   The downloads are specific to Windows or Mac, so you may need help from customer support if you want to download the software to both.   Should still be one license key and you still get max of five federal e-files.

@ghheinle Yes, the license code is good for both a Windows download and a Mac download.

Can I install TurboTax CD on both PC and Mac for only one license fee?

Yes, you can.  When you go to your Downloads tab at turbotax.com/myaccount, click Enter License code here at the top of the page.  Choose the OS you didn't already have on your account and put the same license code in.  You will then have both MAC & Windows on your Downloads tab for the same purchase.

Note that you must be logged into the same account you added your license code to the first time.  But yes, it will work.  That's how I've done it for years.

This is perhaps a new wrinkle, or at least new to me. If I buy the download version of TurboTax directly from Intuit (https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/cd-download/), it asks me to choose between PC and Mac. So if I choose PC, will I still be able to install the Mac version, later? (Obviously, it's implying no, but in the past I always got both versions when I bought it from Amazon or Costco, so is it really limited when buying directly from Intuit?)

Can I install TurboTax CD on both PC and Mac for only one license fee?

Yes you have to pick PC or Mac when you buy the download from Turbo Tax or from anywhere like Costco.  But then you can log in to get the other one.

When you access your downloads there will be a button to get the other one.   Access your downloads here

Found my screen shot.  This is my account for 2023.  I had bought the PC Download from Costco but it shows up in my Turbo Tax account.  See I can get the Mac download above my Windows download.

That matches my experience with Costco, last year, except that I did not have to pick between PC and Mac at purchase time. It's a combined "PC/Mac" version that they are selling. (It's not impossible that Costco sold you something different than it sold me.) While Intuit, at least for 2024, makes you pick before you buy.

Can I install TurboTax CD on both PC and Mac for only one license fee?

Yes I bought the download from Costco Online last year.   This year they only sell the Download, so no more CDs.  So you will have to pick Windows or Mac to download.  I don't know how they  sell it in the actual store.  You probably just get a cardboard with the License Key.  If you buy in the store (any store) please let me know what you get.

I can confirm, after buying the 2024 PC download version directly from Intuit, I was able to use the license code they gave me to download the Mac version, as well.

@TRM62   What issue are you having?  This thread goes back several years.  2024 is different than prior years.
