Can I efile my 2020 return today 1/12/2022?

@DolceDolce Sure---if you want to pay a tax professional, they have different professional software and may be able to e-file a 2020 return for you.  But you are not going to be able to use TurboTax yourself to e-file a 2020 return.

I don't mind paying, I need someone to efile so I don't have to mail in all my 1099-Gs.  It's a stack of them, but they are all entered.  

Will the TT Pro Tax Service be able to?

Are you asking about TurboTax Live?  No.  They do not help with past year returns.   If you are determined not to mail your return, find a local tax pro who can e-file it for you.

I don't think it was called the Live Service, but the Full Tax Service. I guess they are the same service then?
Okay, I will use Upwork.  They have EAs and CPAs on hand.  Thank you so much!

BTW, do you happen to know how long the backlog is on mail returns right now?  Thanks again.

The IRS says that they have cleared a lot of their backlog but they are pretty focused on 2022 returns right now.  So mailing in a 2020 return you should expect about a six month wait.
