I filed an amended return the same day my orginal return was accepted. Why is it taking so long to get my refund?

Why did you do that? You are supposed to wait until your original return has been fully processed before you send in an amended return. And....exactly HOW did you amend? Did you prepare a Form 1040X? What did you do to file it? Sorry......but if you actually managed to get two tax returns into the system at once, you have probably caused enough confusion to delay your refund for months.
Are you seeing any information on the IRS site for your original return?
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 34of your 2020 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
I was told that I can do the amended after my original one was accepted which it was. How was I supposed to know?
The amended return was filed electronically
For now---do nothing. Wait for your original return to be processed. We cannot see whether your amended return was actually accepted or not since you filed it right after the original return. You might just be seeing "accepted" for your original e-file. Do not attempt to re-file the amended return or do anything with it yet or you might just make a confusing mess that will take months to sort out.
I got an email saying my return was accepted and another email that my amended return was accepted. Both were accepted. Just dont understand why it is taking so long. I am not going to do anything. Just really annoyed
I filed the amended return after I got the email that the original was accepted
@Roserclips Even under normal circumstances it takes the IRS at least 4 months to process an amended return. During the pandemic it is taking much longer-----more like six months or more. So do not expect quick results from amending. And....you sent in that amended return too soon, which may result in confusion. Going forward, if you have a reason to amend a tax return, wait for the first one to be processed.
