Please call me. I entered my 2017 AGI as the final question when filing my 2018 return. It had $6488 already entered there and warned me that my return would be rejected if it was incorrect. So I looked up the correct number on 2017's turbo and entered that (different than $6488) number. It rejected my return anyway. I tried to call for hours but couldn't even navigate the "help" prompt on turbo website. So I hope this works. I filed on 15 Oct. IRS owes me. Do I get a penalty for late filing? And how DO I file at all? Also I need to file amended returns for 2016 and 2017 because I found Schedule E benefits me since I can depreciate my house under Airbnb. Would I need to file an amended return for 2018 if it gets processed before 2016 and 2017? I am not going to start those until I know what happened with 2018 and how to amend them on line rather than by mail.

Efiling is now closed. So you don't need the AGI anymore. You have to print and mail returns.
Be sure to attach copies of your W2s and any 1099s that have withholding on them. You have to mail federal and state in separate envelopes because they go to different places. Get a tracking number from the post office when you mail them for proof of filing.
Will amending the prior years affect 2018? Or did you enter the correct amounts into 2018? If you file 2018 then you may need to amend it if you amend 2017 later and it affects 2018. Or you can wait to file 2018 until you get the changes from 2017.
Amended tax returns can only be printed, signed, dated and mailed by you to the IRS, they cannot be e-filed.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for amending a tax return originally completed and filed using TurboTax - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-to-amend-change-or-correct-a-return-you-already-...
Use this TurboTax website to check the status of an e-filed return and if it was either accepted or rejected - https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
There are no penalties for filing after the due date if filing for a tax refund.
I just found out that my 2018 return was rejected. I never realized until I spoke to an IRS agent about my stimulus payment. My return according to the w2's and adjusted gross income looks good, but there is something about an incorrect code, what are they talking about?
An incorrect code on what year? If your 2018 Rejected then enter 0 for the AGI to efile 2019. Then if you still need to file 2018 you have to print and mail it now.
Year 2018 it didn't match what they had
Well the AGI doesn't matter now since you have to mail 2018. Then use 0 for the AGI to efile 2019.
