"W-2G Certain Gambling Winnings" does NOT list Federal Identification Number anywhere on the form - yet TurboTax is rejecting my filing because I cannot fill something in that I don't have access to. I have called one casino and they don't have it - is there a work around this so I can still e-file (already paid their fee)?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You can enter your gambling winnings and losses without entering the Form W-2G.
Delete the W-2G you entered
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen
Click on Tools
Click on Delete a form
Go back and enter your gambling winnings
To enter, edit or delete Gambling Winnings and Losses -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Scroll down to Less Common Income
On Prizes, Awards, and Gambling Winnings, click the start or update button
On the screen asking you to enter the W-2G, select you do not have any W-2G's
On the following screen enter the amount of your winnings. And on the next screen enter your losses.
I just tried this: they take all the taxes out...again... I've already had the taxes taken out (about 1K) at the time of winning thinking that would be easier.
