I have entered a 1099-R but it doesn't populate onto Form 1040.

Why did you get a 1099R? What code is in box 7 ? It should be on 1040 line 4a or 5a and the taxable amount on the "b" line. If you did a rollover it might not be taxable.

Okay, I finally figured out why it wasn't populating -- it was in another section. But now I can get all of my tax withholding to populate -- it's a few hundred dollars short. I have things entered correctly on 1099-R, but it's a mystery what goes on behind the scenes to populate the total withholding tax lines. Help!! Thanks.
So you originally entered the 1099R under another place? Did you delete it from there and enter it in the right place?
Enter a 1099R under
Federal Taxes on left
Wages & Income
Then scroll way down to Retirement Plans and Social Security
Then IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R) – Click Start
If you are adding another 1099R there might be a Add button at the bottom of the list.
You enter the withholding in box 4 on the same screen. The withholding will be on 1040 line 25b.
