The 1099 INT has my name on it. My Ex-spouse and I agree to split the interest. How do we do that?
Please explain step by step what and how the forms need to be filled out and if we need forms, where is it on Turbo Tax.
Thank you.

Whoever's ssn is on the 1099 enters the whole amount on their return. Then after you enter it, on the next page it will ask - Tell us if any of these uncommon situations Apply and pick the first one, I need to adjust the interest reported on my form.
Then on the next page fill in their amount as a POSITIVE number and pick the first reason "I received all or part of this for someone else".
Then on the other person's return you enter it as a 1099 Int and put their amount in box 1.
Thank you so much. So no form needed to my ex and or to the IRS?
If you are like me trying to figure out what to do next, and don't know how to file electronically, order the forms on 1099int and 1096 on the irs website. Fill it out and return it to the irs. IRS has a chat box and I had no wait time early in the morning. Also, the wierd form on line that says don't print it out and mail it because it won't scan, the form B will work to mail it to my ex-husband.
The forms that I return to the IRS will state the information of who I'm saying is going to pay - turbo tax deluxe does not support these forms that I can tell.....
