1)  Restart the Mac and update again.

2) Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file. To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.

same thing happened on my iMac. After I restarted it the same delay happened but I let it go 5 or 10 minutes and it did complete on its own. It was just one super long delay!!!

This issue should not be marked solved!  It is still a serious problem and Intuit needs to fix it.  I find it insulting that the responders imply it's our fault and we have to do multiple complicated steps that don't even work the first time.

Yes it is fixed in the sense if you wait forever for the unpacking, it will eventually finish.  and yes if you repeat the process 4 times and reboot 4 times you might get turbotax to load.  But this is clearly not a solution; Intuit needs to fix it, not mark it solved.

Totally agree that this issue is not solved and should not be marked solved.  The unreasonable delay required to extract and install an update is very unsatisfactory and it is not resolved by shutting down and restarting the Mac.  Intuit needs to address this.
