I need to file a 1099-G for Unemployment for 2020.
Under recipient's information I am being asked for an "account number". However, my 1099-G does not have an account number on it. It has a "recipients identification number" which is my social with everything other than the last 4 digits "X"d out. I'm assuming this is not the account number. There are no other numbers associated to me.
What am I supposed to put for "account number" when inputing my 1099-G info?
Thanks for the help

You would only use their "account number" if they reported one.
On the IRS Form 1099-G, the account number box is located under the taxpayer's name and address.
If you are still unable to locate it, see if you can skip it and file it without it.
Thanks.
The 1099-G form I received from my States Department of Commerce does not have an account number under my (the taxpayer's) name and address, or anywhere else on the 1099-G
The "Account number" is not required.
The 1099-G instructions say, "Account number. May [emphasis mine] show an account or other unique number the payer has assigned to distinguish your account."
So, no number, no problem - your SSN should be plenty to identify you.
Thank you. So should I put my SSN in the Account Number space or just leave it blank?
Just leave the Account Number blank.
But I am puzzled. I just went through entering a 1099-G for unemployment in both the Online and CD/download products, and neither one of them asks for an account number. Are you actually seeing a request for it?
