"QBI Passive Op Loss should not be greater than total loss" ERROR MESSAGE

Getting error on Turbo Tax Smart Check saying that for Schedule E Worksheet, "QBI Passive Op Loss should be greater than total loss."

Also receiving another error asking to enter the QBI Passive Loss.  In all, TT says found 4 areas that need to be reviewed.

I used Turbo Tax for the first time last year (for 2023 taxes).  Why isn't it doing the proper calculations?  I have no idea what information it is wanting me to enter.    Please help!  Thank you.

This experience has been reported to our development team for further investigation. In the meantime, the work-around presented in this post will correct the passive loss carryover entry from last year. You will need to be using TurboTax for Desktop. Once completed, your return should pass final review and be ready to file.

Additional Information: How do I switch from TurboTax Online to the TurboTax software?

"QBI Passive Op Loss should not be greater than total loss" ERROR MESSAGE

Thank you.  I reviewed the post you referenced but didn't see anyone reporting the specific error message I received.

In looking back at the 2023 Schedule E Smart worksheet (first year I used TT), TT put my losses in the Regular, QBI and AMT columns even though I did not claim QBI (nothing reported on form 8995).

For 2024, TT filled in my regular total Pre-2018 operating loss as a positive number in the 2018 operating loss QBI column and as a negative number in the 2022 operating loss QBI column.  It also put my regular 2023 loss in both the regular and QBI  operating loss columns.  (Again no QBI claimed in 2023).

Could these entries be why I am receiving the error message  "QBI Passive Op Loss should not be greater than the total loss"?  If I am again not claiming QBI for my rental property, should I just enter zero in the QBI (and AMT?) columns?  This is all very confusing....

Yes, if you are not claiming QBI for your rental property, you can delete the entries that are causing the form errors.
