I had to take identity quiz for my state refund will I have to do that for federal and if so how will I be notified by mail?

Possibly. The IRS can ask any taxpayer to verify their identity. However,just because your state has asked you to verify your identity doesn't mean the IRS will ask. If they do, you will get a letter from them with instructions on what you need to do. Please respond to that letter as soon as your get it.
