Can I use the 2017 version of Turbotax to complete my 2018 federal tax return?

I purchased Turbotax Deluxe last year and used it to complete my 2017 federal tax return on my MacBook Pro.  I purchased the 2018 version of Turbotax Deluxe recently and when I tried to load it on my MacBook Pro, I got a message that said I couldn't load it as my OS/operating system was downlevel.  I have a late 2008 MacBook Pro and it appears Apple is no longer allowing me to update my OS/operating system.

So my question above is whether I can use my 2017 version of Turbotax to complete my 2018 federal tax return.  If not, is there a way I can complete my 2018 federal tax return on-line using the Turbotax Deluxe version which I have already purchased?  

I'm not a technical person, so easy, step by step instructions are appreciated.  Thank you!

No, each tax year requires it own years version.

We can tell you how to get a refund for the 2018 product you purchased.  Is it a CD or download?  If a CD, it also has the Windows version on it.  Do you happen to have a PC as well as your Mac?

If you don't have a PC as an alternative and need a refund, let us know.   Then you can use Online TurboTax for your 2018 return, if desired.  We can tell you how to upload the *.tax2017 data file to transfer your 2017 data into a 2018 online return.

If you bought it locally, but the store won't take it back, you can use this online refund rquest:

I assume if I get a new MacBook Pro then I'd be able to load and use the 2018 Turbotax CD and assuming all my files transfer from the old to new MacBook Pro, Turbotax will automatically import my data from my completed 2017 federal return, right?  Thanks!

The 2018 TurboTax CD should install on any Mac with OS X version 10.12 or later (64-bit).

You can copy the *.tax2017 data file from the old computer to the new Mac, for example with a USB thumb drive..  Then when you start a new 2018 return, you can choose to transfer the 2017 data from that data file into your 2018 return.

Although it's jumping the gun a bit until you get your new computer, here's how the 2017 data transfer is done:
