Original 2024 Federal 1040 Return was Rejected as confirmed by email notification (and subsequently State Return Rejected) since it omitted Form 8962. Prepared Amended Return 1040X to include Form 8962 but unable to e-file. Error message states cannot e-file 1040X because 1040 was not e-filed via TurboTax, which is obviously incorrect. If I'm required to mail Federal Amended 1040X, how is the State updated on corrected Federal Return in order for the State Return to be accepted.

Delete form 1040X. This should put it back to your original return. Are you using the online version or the desktop version? Doing this with the desktop version, you can go to forms mode and just delete the form 1040X. When you save (save first with a different name) and then delete.
When you say you saved did you save as a .tax file or a pdf?
If you are using the online version, you can delete the 1040x following these instructions

You cannot amend a rejected tax return. You can only amend a return that was filed and accepted. If the return was rejected it has not been filed. (It was transmitted, but not filed.) The status is the same as if you never filed.
To fix the rejection you make the changes to the original return and transmit it again. You do not amend it.
If your return was rejected, you need to fix it and resubmit it. You can't amend the return if the original one was not accepted.
Since I tried to Amend Federal 1040, TurboTax has overwritten original 1040 with Amended version. Now I cannot get back to Original 1040. Even though I saved both Original and Amended 1040 versions in my files and can locate Original 1040, TurboTax unable to retrieve tax data to recreate a 1040 Return and i'm also unable to Transfer Info from Return to Start a New Return either. Unless there's some other trick here, do I really need to Start a new 1040 from scratch, entering my name, W-2 info, etc?

I have the desktop version of TurboTax. The saved files are both Tax files and pdf format. I will do what you suggested in your very clear and detailed instructions and I'll let you know if that was successful. Very much appreciate your assistance.
SUCCESS!!! Was able to revert back to an original but corrected Federal Form 1040. The State Return wouldn't allow me to delete the 1040X form but I was able to rectify this going back through the TurboTax Steps, so all good there too. Thanks again!!!
