Once you've said you're done, can you get back in and change or review anything?

I want to apply my state refund to next year's taxes (in CA I will have to pay taxes on a refund). I said I was done, and I can't get back in to change that. Any ideas?

It depends on whether you filed your taxes or not.

If your taxes have not been accepted, then you can make changes. If you mailed in your return, or e-file and had your taxes accepted by the IRS and/or state, then you’ll need to amend to make changes.

If you used TurboTax Online, simply log in to your account and select “Amend a return that was filed and accepted.”

If you used our CD/download product, sign back into your return and select “Amend a filed return.”

If you haven’t filed, here’s how to apply your California refund to your 2023 state estimated taxes.

  1. Go to “A few things before we wrap up your state taxes”
  2. Start Estimated Taxes for Next Year
  3. On “Do You Want to Pay California Estimated Taxes for 2023?” say YES
  4. Fill in your expected income amounts
  5. Choose your “2023 Filing Status”
  6. Choose “Your Payment Option”
  7. On "Apply Overpayment?" choose how much of your refund you want to apply to your 2023 estimated taxes
