The question, "Did you pay more than half the cost to keep up your home in 2018", is asked to determine if you qualify to file as head of household. If you did not live with your spouse for the entire last six months of the year and you paid for more than half of the living expenses for you and your dependent child, then you should answer yes to this question. If not, answer no.

what if we have no kids? would i just say NO i didnt use more than half of my earned income on living exspences?

Yes, the IRS requires his personal information so that they can match his return to yours.
