What are ALL the things I can qualify for from the addition of a new baby?

I am a single mother with no help from the father of the baby.

New baby

Hi @Hayleemphillips ,

Congrats on the new baby!

If your baby was born in 2022, you may be eligible to claim your baby as a dependent on your tax return.   Fortunately, there are many credits available on your tax return for families with dependents.  Please note there are requirements to qualify for the credit and TurboTax will walk you through questions to verify that you are eligible to receive the credit and claim your baby as a dependent.   You may also be eligible to file as Head of Household (HoH) status which would give you a higher standard deduction amount, compared to filing as single.  More information on filing status' can be found here: https://blog.turbotax.intuit.com/taxes-101/filing-status-on-taxes-459/

There are many rules for claiming a dependent on your tax return.  Please refer to this TurboTax article for the rules as well as other credits you could qualify for, such as the following:

-The Child and Dependent Care credit (For qualifying Dependent care expenses)

-The Earned Income Credit

-Medical expenses, various other itemized deductions and most tax credits that involve children or family issues.

Congrats on the new baby!
