How do you know the account was "hacked"? There have been no reports of any TurboTax online account being compromised.
TurboTax online accounts cannot be deleted. You can clear the tax return and start over.
If you have not paid for the online edition you are using, have not filed your tax return or registered the Free edition, then you can clear your return and start over with a lower priced edition. Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the program screen while working on the 2019 online tax return. Click on Clear & Start Over.
OR -
Use the TurboTax Free File program if you are eligible - https://freefile.intuit.com/
If you are eligible you can use the TurboTax Free File Program which is free to file both a federal and state tax return. The Free File Program edition is a full featured personal tax program and on a separate website from the TurboTax online editions.
To qualify for free 2019 federal and state tax returns with the Free File Program, you'll need to meet at least one of these requirements:
did you try to e-file and get the message your SSN was already used on a return? did you also use the non-filer option to get your stimulus? if the answer to both is yes then the non-filer return was actually the filing of your 2019 return. your only option right now is to print the return and mail it in.
I need this account deleted, I didnt start my 2020 tax return with turbotax
I need this account deleted, I didnt start my 2020 tax return with turbotax. Account has been hacked
Unfortunately, you cannot delete your account.
As long as you have not paid your TurboTax Online fee (or registered a cost-free version), you can clear any data you entered. (Fees paid through Pay With My Refund and pre-paid code also count as "paid.")
Once you've paid or registered, we're required to store copies of your return. These are the same requirements imposed on accountants, CPAs, and other professional tax preparers.
TurboTax will keep the username and password you created in case you ever want to return to the website.
Here's how to find out which TurboTax accounts are linked to your email address:
First, sign out of your account (otherwise, you'll be thrown into a loop in step 2).
Go to our Get help signing in to your account page, enter your email address, then continue.
Check your inbox for a Your TurboTax Account email from do_not_reply@intuit.com, which will list all Intuit accounts tied to that email address.
Repeat these steps for any other email addresses you may have.
If you have multiple TurboTax accounts, pick one and stick with it when you do future tax returns. That way we can automatically transfer your tax info over year after year. It also makes accessing your prior-year returns much easier.
I think Turbo Tax was hacked in 2020. I've had two fraud unemployment insurance claims against employers that only Turbo Tax had access to.

No, there was no breach of TurboTax online accounts.
Fraudulent unemployment claims are rampant due to the Covid-19 situation.
See this IRS website - https://www.irs.gov/identity-theft-fraud-scams/identity-theft-and-unemployment-benefits
Fraudulent claims are an argument in favor of a data breach for a company like Turbo Tax, not proof they weren't. My advice is to check your accounts and protect your identity if you filed with them last year.
