I started my 2019 return, thought I was saving it, and can't find it to finish. Where did it go? I can't find it in documents or downloads.

You have to sign onto your online account using the exact same user ID you used to create the online account.
Close all TurboTax windows on your web browser (including this one). Copy and paste the account recovery website link onto a new web browser window and run the tool.
Use this TurboTax account recovery website to get a list of all the user ID's for an email address. Run the tool against any email addresses you may have used - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery
If none of the user ID's received will access your account, then use the option shown in blue on the account recovery website, "Try something else"
If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created. TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.
To access your prior year tax returns sign onto the TurboTax website with the userID you used to create the account - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/
I bought the turbotax deluxe online and downloaded the cd into my computer, will your answer still work?

If you purchased the TurboTax software for 2019 and are going to install the software on your personal computer to complete and file the 2019 tax return and have started a 2019 return using the online edition then all you need to do is download the 2019 tax data file from the online edition so you can continue the 2019 tax return using the desktop software.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for the tax data file - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/saving/help/how-do-i-save-my-turbotax-online-return-as-a-tax-data-...
You will still need to find your 2019 online tax return if you have not already done so.
same, I don't want to start over. i left it open on my computer last night, this morning it is on the page to start a new return. help!
Use the Chrome browser on a computer and clear all browsing data before signing back into TurboTax. Sometimes this will resolve the problem Make sure that you are on the same account where you started your return. Often users have more than one account.
Go to the I forgot my username or password and follow the instructions to get a list of every account you have with TurboTax.
I did not have a chance to save the file. My computer shut down and I can't find the file
@deliza55 Are you using the Online version? Or the Desktop installed program? On Windows or Mac?
For Desktop program on Windows....
Your tax return file ends in .tax2022. Search your computer for it. Check the Recycle Bin or Trash. Check in One Drive, etc. it should be in your Documents then in the Turbo Tax folder. Check your backups. Also if you have multiple Windows user accounts, log into each one and do the search for the *.tax2022 data file from within each one and checking the Recycle Bin in each one.
If you don't have the main .tax file you might have one that starts with a Tilde sign ~ like "~your name.tax2022". That file is if your computer crashes or your real file gets lost or deleted or corrupt so you can restore it.
