You need to go back to your DFAS W-2 and edit it.
Step thru the main form page, and on one of the pages AFTER the main form, there is a page with a whole long list of checkboxes. In the middle of that mess there is one you need to "X" indicating that the W-2 is for Active Duty Military service.
Why do you need to do that since it was from DFAS? Shouldn't software auto detect it ? I imagine there are a lot of civilians who get DFAS W-2 forms too, who are not in military service, so you need to tell the software that particular W-2 was for active duty service..
Thanks for this! Sure enough, active military for my DFAS W-2 was NOT checked. However, once I checked it and went to the review stage again, I'm still being prompted to pay for TurboTax (I chose Deluxe). Am I doing something wrong? Is Deluxe not covered? I was certain it was, and that's what I used last year, but now I'm just confused...
Well...overnight you probably shut it all down.
So today you'll restart it and check again...but run thru the My Info section again, even if already set to your proper military service settings......then go thru the Federal and state reviews again, before checking the fees.
IF it still has you paying a fee....then it's time for Customer Support on the phone. Indicate you have a "Billing Issue"
What is the TurboTax phone number? (intuit.com)
Did you ever find a solution? A year later and I'm having the same issue. I've used TT for a decade and had no problem getting the military discount before, but I can't find anything that will work for me this time.
