My daughter is attending law school. She received a 1099-MISC for a stipend that she received for her summer internship. How should I enter this into Turbotax?

I have seen old posts (from 2019) that say I should not enter this as a regular 1099-MISC because it will be taxed incorrectly. I need help understanding how to do it correctly in 2024.

Several years ago Form 1099-MISC would trigger Self-Employment income (and it still can in some situations) however the IRS resurrected Form 1099-NEC to help identify what is Self-Employment and what is Other income.

Enter the 1099-MISC Under

  • Wages & Income
    Other Common Income
    Income from Form 1099-MISC    START
Enter the 1099-MISC as it was reported, Type "Stipend" in for the description, Select "None of these apply" for uncommon situations, "NO" not like main job, only got it in 2024,  "NO" no intent to earn money, DONE

These are TurboTax questions, not IRS questions. These need to be the answers to let TurboTax know it is not Self-Employment.
