You can use either the TIN ( is that their ssn?) or the EIN.
Actually you can just enter it as Other self employment income or Cash or General income. You don't need to get a 1099NEC or 1099K. Even if you did you can enter all your income as Cash. Only the total goes to schedule C.
The TIN is either the ssn or EIN. You don't need both. You can use either one. A ssn is formatted as xxx-xx-xxxx and a EIN is xx-xxxxxxx usually starting with 9.
This isn't true. Turbotax won't process the return with the SSN number that is listed as the TIN on the 1099-NEC. They force you to file by mail if you don't have an EIN even if the payer doesn't have an EIN.
Don’t know what changed this year. Those posts are over 4 years old. I would delete the 1099NEC and just enter your total income as Other self employment income or as Cash or General income. You don't need to get a 1099NEC or 1099Misc or 1099K. Even if you did you can enter all your income as Cash. Only the total goes to schedule C.
