Married Jointly Question

My husband and I always file married jointly.

My husband changed jobs halfway through 2021. One of  his W-2 forms was less then $8000. Do we need to claim this on our taxes along with my  job and his other job?

Thank you.

Yes you have to enter it.   ALL of your combined income has to go on your 2021 tax return, even a W-2 for a very small amount---and $8000 is not a small amount.

he got a w-2. the IRS gets a copy. what do you think will happen when the IRS computers notice that W-2 wasn't included?  it's even likely that if you e-file the return will be rejected.

general US tax law. all income is taxable and reportable unless excluded by the tax laws. a w-2 is not excluded.

Yes you have to report ALL your income no matter how small.  Even $1 of bank interest you didn't get a 1099 Int for.
