Sorry you're having these problems and I guess I'd better knock on wood before I jinx my own working Turbotax HB. Have you see this thread?
Read through the whole thing then try the complete uninstall instructions and download the current TT version again. Maybe it will make a difference and solve the problem.
Also, if you still have TT2020 on your Mac, open that and let it update. I think I read someplace that updating TT2020 had a positive effect on the installation and operation of TT2021.
Is the 2021 TT able to run on Big Sur. I can download ok but not able to open.
Having problems with 2021 TT and Big Sur. Able to download but not open program.
same problem, I read someone was able to access with Monterey, I upgraded to Monterey, same problem. I spent a significant time texting with tech support over the weekend, they could not resolve. Can't believe they have known about this problem for a year and haven't solved it.
@kathyram and @Jessebechtold This seems to be an issue with applications not purchased from the Apple Store. @macuser_22 posts a resolution here.

It is not really a TurboTax "issue: it is a Apple feature that Apple added to the Catalina (and later) software. See this Apple article.

Tried that but can’t open 2020 or 2021
Same experience!
Same here. Last year downloaded TT for Mac from Amazon. Got a dud version that didn't work with Big Sur and Intuit wouldn't give me a code to use with a copy downloaded from their own site. SO I ran it on a Catalina VM.
Just downloaded TT 2021 for Mac FROM TURBOTAX site. Same problem. Won't start. Gives the pop up box to report error to Apple.
Try setting up a new user for just Turbo Tax and back up to desk top and new flash drive. Customer support solutions didn’t work. I have Big Sur on a 2015 computer.
No joy on that workaround.
Last year I installed a Parallels VM of Mac OS Catalina and just dealt with it for TT 2020. I just got off a 45 minute support session with TT customer support where they provided me a screen share applet (GlanceGuest) where I could show them the issue. She then worked with higher level support separately (while on the call with me) and was told that Mac OS 11 Big Sur has known issues and their only solution to offer is: 1.) refund 2.) run it on another platform.
I told her that's the same workaround from a year ago. I also pointed out their minimum requirements page that clearly shows it *SHOULD* be compatible with 10.15 or higher.
https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/system-requirements/help/minimum-system-requirements-for-turbotax-...
And, if they are aware that it is not reliable on Mac OS 11, they should revise their minimum requirements to clarify that.
No ETA on a fix, despite this being an issue for over a year now. I'm sure if it were a problem on Windows 11 there would be a team the size of India working to fix it.

TurboTax runs just fine in Big Sur, there are many Mac users that have had not problem at all. I suggest a total uninstall and reinstall with a fresh download of the software.
Corruption could have occurred in the Application or in an associated preference or support file.
The best remedy is to totally uninstall TurboTax and all associate files and then re-install. That will not delete or change any .tax2021 data file that had already been created with the tax data.
To uninstall the application and all associated files need to be deleted and then the application reinstalled. If there was a state then the state must also be reinstalled.
To remove TurboTax from your computer, you'll need administrative rights.
Here is a FAQ for how to uninstall Mac

I’ve done all those things last year and this year. I’m familiar with all the tips of deleting all the relevant files in the ~Library directory, fully uninstalling/reinstalling the app, etc.
In 30 years of using Intuit Mac tax software (going back to Macintax for those who May remember it), I’ve never had issues until last year when Mac OS 11 and TurboTax didn’t play nice.
Given this 15 and counting page thread of complaints, along with Intuit admitting to me on my support call that it is unreliable on Big Sur (yes, it obviously works for some), the problem is not the end user in this case.
I ran it on my Catalina VM and it works, but was given a pop up upon launching the app that only Big Sur would be supported for future products after this current release of 2022 TT.
My email is changed…to [email address removed]…
I have Mac Big Sur…version 11.6.3…it says it is downloading; but I cannot find it once it does…
Eileen6511 - Downloads on Mac go into your Downloads folder. From your desktop, there should be a "GO" menu at the top of the screen that would give you that an option.
