Letter 6475

Me and my husband received letter 6475. But Turbotax didn't ask me about tax rebate during federal review. How can I add this information to Turbotax?

If you are not eligible for the stimulus based on your 2021 return Turbotax won’t ask about it.

During the Federal Review of your tax return, TurboTax will check if you meet the eligibility requirements for the stimulus payment.

  1. If you meet the requirements, you'll see the Did you get a third stimulus? screen.
  2. Answer a few questions about any payments you've already received and then we'll let you know if the Recovery Rebate Credit applies.
    • If you need to make any changes to your stimulus credit responses, search for stimulus and select the jump-to link to return to the section. Enter your updated info and Continue.

So I do not need to enter anything for letter 6475 if turbotax doesn't ask for it? I was confused because I got the letter but there's nowhere in Turbotax for me to enter the information

There are only two reasons the TurboTax program would not ask about the 3rd stimulus payment from a 6475 letter.

1.  You are being claimed as a dependent (or)

2.  Your 2021 Adjusted Gross Income for your filing status is over the maximum for the Recovery Rebate Credit

• Single or married filing separately—$80,000
• Married filing jointly or qualifying widow(er)—$160,000
• Head of household—$120,000

If you entered the incorrect stimulus payment amount received and you have a credit on line 30 of the form 1040 then the IRS will automatically correct this error ... just wait for it.
