Itemization.

Clarification on my previous question. While preparing my taxes, prior to entering my wife’s W2s, the program stated that I should itemized. After entering her information it stated to takes standard deduction. Why does that happen?

Ignore the refund meter and any recommendations about standard/itemizing until you have all income and deductions entered.   That is the only way to truly know which option is better.   When TurboTax told you to itemize, you may have had a different filing status or whatever data you had entered at that time made it better to itemize.     You can switch between both options to see how it changes your refund or tax due amount. 

How do I change from the standard deduction to itemized (or vice-versa)?
