Is there a way to just enter summary estimates for each section rather than go through all the details?

I'm interested in getting quick estimates for things like how much a charitable donation will affect my federal tax.

Sadly no since the Online program is interview based.  If you were using the Downloaded version you could switch to the forms mode to make direct entries... just one of the perks of the program.

What you can do is make a single  charity entry  under cash, enter an amount, click continue, look at the refund meter, click back, change the amount, click continue, look at the meter ... wash rinse repeat.
