Is there a way to import Ultipro's W-2 info in to TurboTax (not online)?

Ultipro has a link to "import to TT" which just redirects to this site.  Useless.  TT used to automatically download the information form W-2's (at least it did from ADP).   Is this a Ultipro problem? A TT problem?  Only available for TT online as opposed to TT from a CD?

There has never been an import "button".    I suspect that button is probably only to get  to the TurboTax  website so you can go to the W-2 interview if you use TurboTax online.    The designer of that "button" obviously did not account for CD/download users.

Most W-2 imports will not work or be available until mid February sometime.    Try again mid February.

BTW, in my opinion W-2 import is just a waste of time anyway.  I can manually enter 2 W-2's in the time it took to type this message and imports are always subject to error so the imported data should be checked line for line with the real W-2 to be sure that there was not any import error.

Since employees have until Jan 31 to make W-2's available, many imports are not yet available.   When entering a W-2 into TurboTax W-2 section and you enter the employers EIN on  the first screen then TurboTax will check if there is an import available for that employer.

Thanks, yes, I know all that. My employer has made the W-2 available.  I can see it in Ultipro, which offers an "import into TT" button. That button just goes to this site.  This site seems oblivious to the fact that I use TT on CD, not online.

To your other point, when entering the EIN in TT, there is no offer to import the W-2 from anywhere, as used to be the case in the past.

Just wondering what has changed, TT, Ultipro, my employer?

"That button just goes to this site."  Then it is the button that is broken and assumes that you use TurboTax online.    Online or CD, it is entered the same way.

Nothing has changed.   There is only one way to import W-2's into TurboTax - see this FAQ:

Import your W-2 in TurboTax CD/Download

  1. Open your return.
  2. Using the search feature in the upper right, search for w-2 and select the Jump to link in the search results.
    • On Mac: Select the Federal Taxes tab, then select Wages & Income.
  3. The Let's start with your W-2 screen will open. Select Work on my W-2 now.
    • If you've already added a W-2 to your return, you'll reach a screen where you can add, edit, or delete a W-2 as necessary. Select Add another W-2.
  4. Enter the 9-digit Employer ID Number from your W-2, and select Continue.
    • If your employer is a TurboTax partner, we'll say Great News! We Can Enter Your W-2 for You and lead you through the steps to import your W-2.

If your employer is not a TurboTax partner, if you're otherwise unable to import your W-2, or prefer to manually enter your W-2:

  • After following Steps 1–4 above, you'll come to the Enter Your W-2 screen where you can enter the info from your W-2 into the appropriate boxes.
  • You can select Skip import when asked to enter the EIN and proceed to manually enter your W-2 info.

Here's a list (scroll down the page)  Unless Ultipro uses some other W-2 provider on the list ...... then you'll have to type it in yourself   (Like ADP that works with thousands of companies )

Is there a way to import Ultipro's W-2 info in to TurboTax (not online)?

Obviously I'm confused. Ultipro is made by Ultimate Software, which is on the list of W-2 providers, along with ADP.  It used to work just fine; I've used TT for years; thanks again for the links on "how to import W-2's" I've seen it and tried it.

I'll have to conclude that my employer has not paid Ultipro to provide the service of downloading W-2's,  which I suppose would explain the presence of the button that doesn't do anything and TT's failure to say "Good News etc".  Guess my employer is no longer a "TT partner"
