Is Pi included in crypto currency?

If I mine for Pi, is that considered a crypto currency even though it has no cash value?

For the purposes of the question that the IRS asks on page 1 of Form 1040, I would suggest that you say yes. 

This is what the question states: "At any time during 2022, did you: (a) receive (as a reward, award, or payment for property or services); or (b) sell, exchange, gift, or otherwise dispose of a digital asset (or a financial interest in a digital asset)?" 

For other types of reporting, please see DianeW777's answer here which still seems to be valid. According to a Capital.com article, this digital asset still has no value.
