Hope,
I just tried both of those methods and it still populates line C (space #1) with "Covid CARES Act"
This absolutely worked. There needs to be a mass email sent out to all of Turbo tax reps letting them know the work around because as of now they are clueless and are stating to check back in a week. Absolutely not! I love that we can help each other. Thanks a bunch!!!
You guys are nuts to try to manipulate their forms and services to make this work without seeing what else it screwed up. Just because irs accepts it, doesn't mean it's accurate. I highly recommend you wait or at least review your forms manually before submitting.
this experience is ridiculous. i am onmy 5th expert, 2 have been disconnected. I tried deleting the form, but i want an"expert"on screen share to walk through this step by step....
4 rejections, and 5 hours on chat today. how is this acceptable?
If you're using TurboTax Desktop, go to FORMS and Open Form 8915 Worksheet. Delete 'Coronvirus' from under Line 18, Fema Disaster name (screenshot below).
If you're using TurboTax Online, Delete Form 8915 and Worksheet, close TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies and step through the the 1099-R interview and following Disaster questions again. Leave disaster type blank.

i was just told by another expert "google chrome definitely has the update"
So, lets review:
5 chats, totaling 5 hours:
* first it started with, wait a few days, then re-file
* then we moved to, something is wrong, delete your forms,
* then we went to: clear your cookies, your browser history, etc....
then we went to, oh....you have to use google chrome with turbo tax, they get the fastest updates
and after all of this, i am going to pay $300 to file with these people? new system for me next year...
just did this, and was given these instructions: guess what....4th rejection today, same error message
Here are the instructions I received from our lead department.
Yeah, I'm having the same issue. I've tried multiple times to get these to not reject. I've tried all of these "fixes". What did I pay the additional fee for a "tax expert" if none of them can help? Fix it, TurboTax, and refund us all the $50 upgrade fee.
@FZ2671 THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! 🎉🤗
The first of your two fixes worked for me. The info in Section C was removed. I'm crossing my fingers and toes hoping it is accepted.
I can't say that I'm not still ticked at this entire mess that NONE OF US could've known about. I did just have a wonderful phone call with a TT rep that called back just AFTER I FIXED IT MYSELF. She was pleasant and was ready to help. Dang, I didn't even ask her what her solution would've been.
Hi everyone. I did the steps slightly different than the solution that's been posted here so I figured I'd share as well. This worked for me...
1. Start that section again and UNCHECK the coronavirus box. Then on the next screen I picked a random disaster and then went through the rest of the questions.
2. Go back to the beginning and go through the questions again. Leave the coronavirus box unchecked... but instead of picking a random disaster, choose the very top option in the dropdown list which is blank. This will delete the code TurboTax is putting on Line C.
3. Go back to the beginning and go through the questions again but this time check the coronavirus box.
I was able to submit to the IRS after doing this. I got an email shortly after that it was accepted.
SUGGESTION: Anyone trying to fix on your own or even with a rep, make sure you view your return before transmitting again. Go to the form to confirm it was updated. I went through a couple of suggestions on here before I found the one that actually worked to remove the Section C "coronavirus" wording.
Take screenshots or write down the correct amounts and line numbers for your distribution in case you mistakenly delete the form or click something you didn't intend. Confirm that your refund amount doesn't change.
mine was rejected again....
is it time for turbotax to maybe fix this and email/call us with something other than a backwards work around...
I'm not understanding what is taking so long for me to get rejected or accepted. I just looked at the past several years worth of emails and texts. My federal was ALWAYS accepted within 30 mins of the filing. I don't understand how everyone else has a status updated and I have nothing yet. It's been 9 hours since I filed. 😕😩
Option 2 worked perfectly. My return has been accepted by both Federal and State. Thank you!
