In my federal return in box D it just says the letter “N” this is causing me to be unable to file through e-file, what can I do about this?

The Control Number in box D on the W-2 is not required to complete and e-file a tax return. Remove any information in box D.
If the program still asks for box D, then delete the W-2 and re-enter manually.
