TT advertises that it can import from an HR Block pdf file. I saved my 2023 return using "save as PDF". TT fails to import it. I tried this 3 times using the desktop 2024 Premier version of TT. The online version doesn't even offer the option.

How to transfer last year’s return?
Turbo Tax Premium online can import Investment and Dividend data from Fidelity. Yea. The connection worked and the large data file for stock trades (2000+) was transferred. This package is more expensive than other vendors "Premium" offerings, but it is the only one that works. And I mean the only one including Tax Act and HR Block and TT Desktop Premium. Seriously?
Turbo Tax Premium desktop cannot download 2000+ transactions from Fidelity. It connects and says it works, but fails to download anything. Boo TT resolved thisfor Online but FAILED to fix it in desktop. Increase the file size (capacity) in Desktop please TT. You have consistently failed to do this in previous years on the desktop version. How hard can it be?
Turbo Tax desktop fails to import HR Block tax files (PDF). I have all of my previous personal and business data that I don't want to rekey there.
Turbo Tax online doesn't even offer the option to import previous year tax files. Or the option is ridiculously deep in the menu structure. Another bug, please fix.
I resolved the problem by starting my taxes with TT Premier online and importing 1099 Div and B data from fidelity. TT even got the wash sales right. Big Yea .. The file size was over 2000 lines long.
Then I saved that entire tax file to my desktop. Then I started a new tax season for 2024 in Premier Desktop with that download. That's not an import, it is a transfer of the entire file from Cloud to Desktop. I figured some of this out with help from a Tax Act tech who was easily accessed in a very short time. Their package also fails to download from Fidelity due to the number of transactions.
