IHSS excludable income

hi – I received a W-2 for my IHSS excludable income. Only box 12 is filled out. I tried to submit my tax return and TurboTax will not let me because it has to be more than a dollar. Since zero is in box one I feel that one dollar may trigger and audit. Does anybody know if this glitch will be fixed or if there is another way to submit the tax return? Thank you.

You can mail in your return or you can leave your W-2 out of TurboTax and just keep it for your records. ‌That way you can e-file. You can't e-file a tax return that contains a Form W-2 with no wages in Box 1

Since your W-2 doesn't report income and has only IHSS in Box 12, it's ok to leave this W-2 off your tax return.  It will have no effect on your tax return.

Thank you. I always get worried if you receive a W-2 but then don’t enter it in the right W-2 section. It might trigger an audit. I could put it under that category other income and put it in and then subtract it out like I’ve done in the past. Do you think that would be a way of showing you got the W-2 but it’s excludable income?

Yes, if you enter the W-2 for your IHSS payments in the Other income area, this will show the income in box 12 code II as received on line 1d and then also as as backed out on line 8.  Follow the instructions here for I received a W2 with $0 in box 1
