I have my own business but I also have a w2 from a previous kid in 2017 can I file separately?

if you have a W-2 from a previous employer and your own business you must include them both on the same tax return. You can do that in TurboTax Self Employed. Report the business income under Self-Employment Income, and the W-2 under Wages and Salaries.
