It depends. In the Deluxe version, you can enter your W-2, 1099's and you can enter your self-employment income. However, if you are an independent contractor, freelancer, or business owner and you want to report self-employment expenses on Schedule C, then you will need to use TurboTax Self-Employed.
You can always start out with a lower version of TurboTax and then if your tax situation requires more complex forms, the program will ask you to upgrade to the higher version to meet those needs.
