If I'm filing my Federal Tax Return by Mail, can I still file my New York Tax Return by e-file?

No. For security purposes a tax return must first pass the more stringent security IRS tests for an e-filed Federal tax return so a state return cannot be e-filed until the Federal return has been successfully e-filed.

If you mail Federal then state must also be mailed.
