If I entered an incorrect amount under Wages & Income, Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, how do I delete that amount? The Add/Edit tab is useless.

If I entered an incorrect amount under Wages & Income, Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C, how do I delete that amount? The Add/Edit tab is useless.

You don't specify exactly what type of income you need to delete, but the process is straightforward.  I just went through this procedure successfully in the free Online version.  To remove this income in TurboTax Online:

  1. Select Tax Home in the left pane
  2. On the Hi, let's keep working on your taxes! screen, select the dropdown to the right of Wages & Income
  3. Select StartPick up where you left off or Review/Edit, as appropriate
  4. Select Add/Edit to the right of Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
  5. On the  Let's Work on Any Miscellaneous Income page, select Revisit to the right of whichever type of income you previously reported
  6. Remove all inappropriate information on the ensuing pages

If you continue to have issues, post back with the type of income you've entered and what other entries you've made.

JohnW152    The entry I 'thought' I needed to make for 2024 pertains to NJ Property Tax Reimbursements (NJ Senior Freeze program). 

 

Looking at my 2023 TT Federal Tax Return (Standard Deduction chosen), the amount of Property Tax Reimbursement had been entered on Schedule 1 Additional Income, Line 8z (Other income), with the words NEW JERSEY REAL ESTATE.  Note: for the previous year TT Federal Return (2022), I itemized deductions.  

 

Okay, so I'm now preparing my TT Federal Return (2024) and TT is showing me last year's entries as a guidepath for entering THIS year's information. Something I appreciate.... except that this year I'm doing a Standard Deduction again and I've been told I therefore  do not have to enter Property Tax Reimbursements (recoveries) at all.  But I was following the guidepath from TT (where they show me last year's entry) and had already entered an amount for this year under Wages & Income, Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C.  I've never received ANY form with those numbers, but somehow that's where this year's property tax reimbursement amount is entered.  I need to delete that entry.  I followed your suggestion but the Revisit tab does not take me to a place where I can do that.  I'm sorry if I'm being unclear.  I'm 81 yrs old and doing my best.
