If your 2020 returns were rejected, you shouldn't have amended them. You amend a return after the IRS processes your original return.
Go back into TurboTax and delete the amended returns and just correct the Federal Payer ID number on your original return.
The reason you're not able to e-file is because 2020 Amended returns won't be available for e-file until 3/25/2021.
Thank you so much for the quick reply. One more question: When I go back into Turbotax I see no option to delete these returns. There are no tabs at the top and no nothing in the left panel except Tax Home, Documents, Credit Karma, Mint, and Intuit Acct. When I go into documents, I still see no option to delete. Only the option to Download/Print those returns.
When your return was rejected you should have received an email from TurboTax and then gone back into the return and clicked the button to fix the return.
Amend is not yet available in TurboTax and so there is no option to start or cancel an amend. By attempting to amend when the 1040X form and amend function is not available, you may have lost the option to fix the rejected return and e-file it.
If you have not yet paid for TurboTax, you may be able to clear and start over and then have the ability to e-file.
