The IRS ID Protection PIN is 6 digits long; but Turbo Tax Field only allows 5 digits to be entered...how do I file, I have been rejected 2 times already!
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If you have a 6 digit PIN issued to you by the IRS you need to enter it in order to e-file. Go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN and enter the six-digit PIN.
Most likely you are entering the pin in an incorrect location which is meant for your e-file pin which is 5 digits.
The IP Pin will change each and every year. This is an Identity Protection Pin.
You can get an Identity Protection pin here, or if you lost your IP PIN, you can go here to Retrieve IP PIN.

Thanks That worked...but now the 2nd question...so now what do I put for my e-fling pin? I know I used one last year...can I use the same one?

Thank you for the clarification. That definitely help, now crossing fingers the return gets accepted and no other issues for rejection.
Thank you. Resubmitted. Your guidance and response was much appreciated. Crossing fingers it doesn't get rejected for any other reason.
Thank you for your assistance🍻!

To enter, edit or delete a 6 digit IP PIN

Click on Other Tax Situations
Scroll down to Other Return Info
On Identity Protection PIN, click the start button
Cannot find the option on the desktop version to go to Federal>Other Tax Situations>Other Return Info>Identity Protection PIN. How do I get there?
Got it, thanks!
