I thought filing my taxes this way was free that's what it said

Filing the federal return is free. There is a fee for filing with the state, at least for my state (CO).

You are using TurboTax Self Employed, which is not free. You can start your tax return using TurboTax Free, but if you do not qualify for TurboTax Free, you will be prompted to upgrade. Turbo Tax fees you are charged will depend on the which Turbo Tax product you choose and any add-ons you may have selected when completing your return.
